On June 2, the Senate approved the appointment of four new commissioners to the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) (the Brazilian antitrust authority). João Paulo de Resende, Paulo Burnier da Silveira, Alexandre Cordeiro Macedo and Cristiane Alkmin Junqueira Schmidt were all nominated by President Dilma at the end of April and approved by the Senate to serve a 4-year term. Eduardo Frade Rodrigues, the acting General Superintendent since June 2014, was approved for the service of a 2-year term.
