BRPTO and EPO renew technical cooperation agreement

On Wednesday, April 7, 2025, the BRPTO announced the signing of a renewed Memorandum of Understanding with the European Patent Office (EPO) with the aim of “strengthening cooperation in technical and strategic areas of common interest in patents”. The two offices seek to ensure efficient and high-quality patent examination.

The EPO will provide training, tools, and technical-legal support to the BRPTO to improve the quality, efficiency, and speed of patent processing at the Brazilian office, leveraging the efficient use of the EPO's work. The agreement also includes the supply, by the EPO, of tools and information to foster innovation, commercialization, and technology transfer.
