The BRTO Extends the Deadline Suspensions Related to Industrial Designs

Today, July 30, 2024, the BRPTO published a Notice in its Official Gazette #2795, informing that the problems with the formality examination of some industrial design applications filed between January 15, 2023, and January 4, 2024, have been resolved. The examinations of these applications will be published in the Official Gazettes #2795 and #2796.

The BRPTO also reported that issues in the BUSCAWEB system have not been resolved, and some data and documents related to industrial designs remain unavailable. The new deadline for resolving these issues is August 31, 2024.

Due to these ongoing issues, the issuance of industrial design certificates granted from November 14, 2023 (BRPTO’s Official Gazette #2758) also remains suspended. The deadline for normalization of issuance remains August 30, 2024.
