BRPTO hires 20 new examiners
This Tuesday, November 11, 2025, the BRPTO announced that 75 new civil servants, including 20 examiners, were sworn in. The new examiners are part of the group appointed November 3 by BRPTO/PR’s Ordinance #308 of October 29, 2025. The cohort was previously approved in the most recent public recruitment drive and were part of the Office’s reserve roster, as detailed in a previous Client Alert.
Among the 75 new civil servants, 20 are patent examiners, who will work in areas related to biology, electronics, information technology, and similar fields. A further 31 will handle trademark, industrial design, and geographical indication examinations, while the remaining 24 will perform administrative functions.
With these new hires, the BRPTO’s workforce now stands at 1,110 direct employees, its highest number since 2017.
