BRPTO updates fee schedule with 24% increase
This Friday, May 9, GM/MDIC’s Ordinance #110, of May 5, 2025, was published in the Federal Register, updating the fee schedule for services provided by the BRPTO. The adjustment reflects a 24.1% increase in service fees.
Regarding patents, one of the most notable changes in the new schedule is the elimination of the fee for issuing a letters patent or the certificate of addition of invention, effective December 20 of this year.
The previous reduction policy offering up to 60% also remains in place, with full exemption for underprivileged and disabled persons registered in CadÚnico and in the Federal Government's Reference Registry for People with Disabilities, respectively.
The new schedule will come into effect on August 7, 2025, 90 days after its publication.
The price schedule can be found here.
