Head of ICT Patent Acquisition Practice

Pitter Motta joined Licks Attorneys’ Rio de Janeiro office in 2026 as Head of the ICT Patent Acquisition Practice.

Throughout his career in intellectual property, Mr. Motta has advised Brazilian and international clients across a broad range of technology sectors, including energy, telecommunications, oil and gas, industrial equipment, and automotive technologies. His practice encompasses patent drafting and prosecution, prior art searches, Freedom to Operate

(FTO) analyses, the assessment of patentability and infringement risks, the development of protection strategies for new technologies, and the analysis of technical opinions and Office Actions issued by the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (BRPTO).

He has also contributed to patent infringement and invalidity matters, providing technical support and assisting litigation teams in the preparation of technical analyses and supporting materials for judicial proceedings.
