Via Licensing Alliance’s fourth annual Bridge Summit took place in San Francisco last week, October 6-9.

The conference gathered private practice lawyers and in-house counsel to discuss standard-essential patents (SEPs), licensing structures, and FRAND terms in the age of AI.

Notable attendee law firms included Licks Attorneys, Devlin Law Firm, Cohausz & Florack, HG Law, and Sullivan & Cromwell.

IP counsel from major technology companies including Google, Meta, Amazon and Philips also joined the event.

Managing IP attended panel sessions covering the current global SEP environment and AI and data centre licensing. We also met with IP practitioners to hear about how firms are carving a competitive advantage and how tech companies are preparing IP strategies around 6G.

The event, barring the AI licensing panel, was conducted under Chatham House Rules, meaning quotes were not attributable to any individuals.
