
Ericsson has launched a second wave of cellular patent infringement lawsuits against Transsion, filing Morocco’s first ever SEP suit as well as legal actions in Indonesia and Colombia. This follows an initial batch of cases filed last month and a subsequent arbitration offer, which Ericsson claims was not accepted by the “Smartphone King of Africa”.
The Swedish innovator’s enforcement campaign now spans seven jurisdictions and four continents and includes the first ever SEP actions in two African countries. This adds to Ericsson’s record as a pioneer of SEP litigation in new jurisdictions, having previously been the first patentee to file SEP suits in Brazil, India and Colombia.
