The bill will now be analyzed by the House of Representatives

On April 3, the Brazilian Senate approved bill S. #1179/2020, which, among other measures, postpones the enforceability of the Brazilian Data Privacy Act – LGPD. The final version of the bill, that received an amendment in the nature of a substitute proposed by Rapporteur Simone Tebet, postpones LGPD’s enforceability to January 1st, 2021 and the enforceability of the administrative sanctions established by the Act to August 1st, 2021.

The bill will now be voted on by the House of Representatives.
