At Licks Attorneys, we understand not only the importance of diversity and inclusion, but also the urgency to take appropriate and considerate action. For this reason, in 2020 we are structuring our Diversity and Inclusion Committee so that we can align our internal processes and make our employees aware of how we are setting a standard and addressing this matter within the office. Although the process is in its early stages, our Committee has already created impactful dialog that has led to the implementation of positive change.
We held two events that celebrated diversity in the second semester of 2019. Both events were supported by national and international institutions focused on Women in Intellectual Property and Innovation. We have also celebrated Women’s International Day this year bringing awareness to our female group of professionals on the importance of mental health and nutrition. At the beginning of this year, a policy on maternity leave was justly set for 6 months and paternity leave for 20 days (10 + 10), these actions were one of many that will be established.
Due to the pandemic, our plans for other events in 2020 have been postponed, but soon we will continue the positive momentum that the Committee has already created by cultivating events that encompass diversity and inclusion, such as ethnicity and gender identity. We seek not only to involve the office members in these events, but also to carry out internal actions so that we can channel efforts into having an organizational culture that everyone can be proud of and a part of, through partnerships with universities with the objective of giving more opportunities to young minorities and the LGBTQIA+ community.
We hope, therefore, to help build a more robust, multicultural and human environment, not only within our doors, but outside of them as well.
