Since the GDPR (EU General Data Protection Regulation) came into force on May 25, 2018, the internet search giant Google, which belongs to Alphabet, started to internally and intensively work not only to adapt itself to the GDPR, but also to create tools that mitigate the misuse of personal information from third parties. Such an effort was not just a privilege of Google, but also of companies that develop internet browsers such as Safari and Mozilla Firefox,  which began to offer the option of blocking third-party cookies in their software.

The ongoing battle waged by companies and governments to address moral harassment, sexual harassment, and discrimination among employees, whether in the private or public sector, is nothing new. A poignant illustration of this perpetual struggle was the resignation of the president of the Brazilian Savings Bank (Caixa Econômica Federal – CEF) on June 29, 2022, following allegations of sexual harassment made by CEF employees.

One of the greatest Brazilian achievements is undoubtedly the Brazilian Public Healthcare System (SUS). Provided for by Article 196 of the 1988 Brazilian Constitution, it establishes that health is a right for all and a duty of the State, and guarantees to every Brazilian access to public health, regardless of payment to the Brazilian Social-Security Administration (INSS).

Brazil is currently going through the most severe water shortage in the last 91 years, according to CNN. This impacts the power supply crisis, leading to notice after notice  on increases in the consumer's electricity bill, determined by the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel), as more expensive energy sources such as thermoelectric plants need to be activated or have their production increased to compensate for the limitations imposed on hydroelectric power plants, as they have no input material.

After a phase where the Brazilian Data Protection Authority (ANPD) focused on regulating important provisions outlined in the General Data Protection Act (LGPD), in addition to editing several manuals and guidelines to assist the public in complying with the law, the ANPD has imposed its first penalty on July 6, 2023, targeting the company Telekall Infoservice.

Despite the General Data Protection Act (LGPD) having entered into force in 2020 and its penalties in 2021, only on July 6, 2023 did the Brazilian Data Protection Authority (ANPD) publish in the Federal register of the current month, the first sanction applied to a company for violating the LGPD.

On July 20, 2022, the Brazilian Federal Pharmacy Council (CFF) published Rule #727/2022, meeting a pressing need in the sector, with the rampant advancement of technology, by regulating the practice of Telepharmacy in Brazil.

The Brazilian Data Protection Authority (ANPD), the body responsible for the promotion and control of the General Data Protection Law (LGPD) in Brazil, started 2022 by publishing CD/ANPD Resolution #2 on January 27, 2022, which approves the regulation implementing the LGPD – Statute #13.709/2018 for small processing agents.

Although Brazilian antitrust rules follow the example of US antitrust law, the pioneers in the subject were not them, but their Canadian neighbors, since the first known antitrust law was published in 1889, in Canada. By the way, this was the year in which Brazil ceased to be an empire, when the Republic was proclaimed on November 15, 1889, by Marshal Deodoro da Fonseca.
